Established by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) in 1995, National Assisted Living Week® recognizes the role of assisted living in America while providing a unique opportunity for residents, their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and the surrounding communities to recognize the role of assisted living in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities. The annual observance encourages assisted living communities around the country to celebrate the individuals they serve while simultaneously educating members of the public about what assisted living truly looks like.
This year, VITALIA Senior Residences® at Strongsville is celebrating the 2022 theme of “joyful moments” from September 11th to September 17th by recognizing how each department plays a role in creating joy for our residents and staff members.
Senior living has been a passion of mine for over 14 years. Being a leader of a senior living community means being able to provide quality of life to seniors in their toughest years and growing a strong team where we are not just co-workers, we are family.
Our team focuses on bringing joyful moments to our residents every day. We want them to continue to experience the things in life they always enjoyed. These experiences include outings to wineries, theater shows at playhouse square, and family fun days when all residents can enjoy good, old fun with their family members.
Resident Dorothy Martin says the most joyful thing about living at VITALIA Senior Residences® at Strongsville is the friendliness of the staff and other residents and feeling safe. Her favorite memories, so far, are going out on lunch outings.
We plan to make National Assisted Living Week a special week in our community by filling it with special events. Each director will host an event throughout the week. We will start with an ice cream sundae bar, staff will take extra time to spend with each resident, and we’ll end the week celebrating “Joy to the World” with food from around the world.
