Fun Fact: The hat that chefs wear is called a Toque Blanche, which means white hat in French. It is believed that the height of the hat symbolizes the seniority and rank of the chef in the kitchen and the folds in the hat express the qualification of the chef.
Culinary art is the mastery of preparing, cooking, and presenting food. Culinarians, or Chefs, are experts in this field and can be found in hotels and restaurants around the world. The depth of their talent extends far beyond the kitchen. Chefs also have a profound understanding of design, food science, nutrition, and diet.
Culinarians Day, held annually on July 25th, is a day to thank and celebrate the people who impact our experience with food in such meaningful ways. Worldwide, this day is a time to appreciate the art of cooking and is often commemorated with events and competitions. At Vitalia Senior Residences at Strongsville, we will be honoring our amazing Culinary Director, Steve Stadnicar, and their team!
Steve has many years of experience as an executive chef in various restaurants. He completed culinary school at JVS. Steve takes pride in his food and builds a strong team. When not working, he enjoys his hobby of beekeeping and his eight cats.
The famous person Steve would have liked to prepare a meal for was Anthony Bourdain. He has been an inspiration to Steve’s career.
The signature sweet our Culinary Director prepares for our community is double chocolate brownie with vanilla Chantilly cream and fresh strawberries. It is classic, yet decadent. His favorite dish to make is chicken tandoori.
We bring hometown favorites with a modern flare to our restaurant. Steve spends time listening to the residents’ likes and incorporates them into the menu. Strongsville has an amazing culinary team including servers, dining room managers, cooks, and sous chefs. They have developed into one team and are there to help each other out when needed. We could not do what we do at Finley’s without this hardworking team!
