As spring arrives, our team turns its attention to one of the most visible parts of our community: landscaping. Beautiful grounds do not happen by chance. They come from thoughtful planning, seasonal preparation, and steady attention to detail.
After winter, I take a proactive approach to refreshing our outdoor spaces. My goal is to keep them visually appealing, safe, and enjoyable for residents. As the Plant Operations Director at Vitalia Strongsville, I focus on the steps that help our community look its best each spring.

For the spring refresh, my team evaluates the areas that need the most attention first. We begin with landscaping that appears worn or neglected. From there, we work through a prioritized list.
I also walk the community grounds with the owner of the landscaping company. Together, we review concerns and identify next steps.
A recent seasonal project involved planting flowers for Earth Week in the Memory Care courtyard. Memory Care residents helped with the project and appeared to enjoy participating.
The event added fresh color to the courtyard. It also created a meaningful way for residents to connect with the outdoor space.
One common spring startup issue is winter trash buildup. Trash often appears after the snow melts. To address this, we need to educate team members on keeping waste out of parking lots. We also need to make sure outdoor trash cans are emptied regularly.
This season, the landscaper is completing a major refresh of the flower beds. The project includes removing tall grasses where trash tends to collect. This should help make cleanup easier next spring.
It is easy to see the finished product, but real success comes from teamwork. Coordination, accountability, and pride help bring each project together. These efforts ensure Vitalia Strongsville continues to meet the standards residents expect while setting the tone for the months ahead.
